The New York State Insurance Department recently released the 2005 Annual Ranking of Automobile Insurance Complaints, in which automobile insurance companies/groups were ranked based on 2004 complaints upheld. Unitrin, Inc., which includes its largest holding Kemper Auto and Home, was named the 10th best performer for Prior Year Complaint Rankings (for the 2004 calendar year). In fact, Unitrin was one of only three top ten performers that wrote more than $100 million in 2004.

“It’s important to note that Assigned Risk is the largest single source of these complaints and, unlike some companies, Kemper Auto and Home processes and services its own Assigned Risk customers,” said KAH President Thom McDaniel. “Outstanding service and personal care by our in-house staff, and quality agency service has made all the difference here. We would like to say ‘Thank You’ to our agency staff for their significant role in this achievement.”

Unitrin has moved up steadily over the past few years from #26 in 2002 to #17 in 2003, to #10 in 2004.
