Safety in a Hailstorm

Preparation before the hailstorm
As with most weather-related events, track the storm via local weather information or through severe weather alerts
Be prepared to react to any oncoming weather event
If there are reports of hail, or the conditions are right for the formation of hail, accompanying approaching storms, where possible you should find shelter for yourself, your car and other personal belongings that are outdoors

During the hailstorm
As always, be safe
If driving and where possible, get coverage under an overpass or seek other shelter
Listen to weather reports and track the hail
Stay inside until all signs of severe weather have passed

After the hailstorm
Look for dents, cracked glass, or other damage on cars
Look for damage to siding or other parts of the house
If other items have been damaged, check the roof for leaks, and where appropriate, stop the leaks from doing any further damage
Clean up any glass or other debris from the storm to prevent injury and/or further damage
